2/25/16 - Miyares client successfully awarded past due spousal support payments in Virginia Beach JDR Court. The non-paying party tried to argue that spousal support should be terminated under Virginia Code 20-109 because the client had remarried. Steve Miyares successfully argued that the language of the Property Settlement Agreement between the parties at the time of their divorce satisfied the statutory provisions and required that the spousal support still be paid as originally agreed even though the spouse had remarried.
12/14/15 - Miyares client found NOT GUILTY of all charges relating to traffic accident and leaving scene - Client was accused of Reckless Driving after a traffic accident involving a parked vehicle and accused of Obstruction of Justice and Failing to Obey a Conservator of the Peace for leaving the scene after the police had arrived and were investigating the accident. Steve Miyares successfully defended the case at trial and all charges were dismissed.
11/1/15 - Miyares Law Firm moves to new office - The Miyares Law Firm has officially moved into its new office located in the Janaf Office Building, 5900 East Virginia Beach Blvd., Suite 202, Norfolk, Virginia. From this new central location, I will better be able to serve my clients throughout the courts in all of Hampton Roads.
4/22/15 - Miyares client found NOT GUILTY in DUI case involving prescription medications - Client found NOT GUILTY of Driving Under the Influence in Norfolk General District Court when Steve Miyares successfully argues that the Commonwealth failed to prove that small amounts of prescription medications within the proper therapeutic dosage did not cause the client's impairment while driving.
